    Gatlinburg’s best restaurant

    December 25, 2025January 11, 2026

***Update as of January 2026 this restaurant is closed..Twelve hours later, we arrived in Gatlinburg to a sea of people and the overwhelming smell of weed. It has been 4 years since I was in Tennessee, Gatlinburg specifically, and it no longer feels home. To be fair, it was never home. The Smoky Mountains has…

    Cozy vegetable Curry

    November 28, 2025January 11, 2026

For someone who doesn’t watch a lot of TV or movies, I seem to have a lot of stories that center around “I saw this in an anime.” Curry is no different. Several years ago when I apparently spent a lot of time binging anime, I fell in love with the idea of curry. I…

    Reminiscing About Japan

    September 6, 2025December 24, 2025

The train sounds are what I miss the most. As someone who adores slice of life anime, hearing those train sounds in real life and having them sound exactly like the anime was a surreal experience. I left Japan with a deeper love of anime due to their attention to detail for the small things…

    Fluffy Cinnamon Rolls

    May 15, 2025January 11, 2026

Through the chaos of finding trains and wandering city streets with names we can’t read, we wander through Minato, Japan. I have never visited a “real” city before. Sure, I’ve been to Orlando but I have been told by pretty much everyone that that is not a “real” city. Standing in Minato, I get it….

Day Trips | Little Rituals | Finding Balance
Central Florida

2026 is not panning out the way I expected at all 2026 is not panning out the way I expected at all and after two months I’ve decided to pivot my goals for my health. Instead of focusing on chasing big goals, I am going to focus on the slowing down. Little rituals, tiny day trips, savoring kitty cuddles, getting lost in books, and noticing the small details again.

I used to lay on the floor in spring and watch the dust motes dance like glitter in sun beams and this weekend I happened to catch the light just right to notice them again. It made me pause and think of how hurried I’ve been. Trying to catch up in my career that I just started in my mid-30s, trying to run a side business running on fumes, and trying to help everyone else with their lives while neglecting the little things that bring me joy.

So, here’s to a pivot. I might post weekly or monthly. It might be adventures or kitties. Who knows.

I made this recipe a year ago and it has sat in my archives awaiting strawberry season to return! This recipe is super easy using box cake mix but could also be completely made from scratch.

2025 in review. I kept meaning to create this last 2025 in review. I kept meaning to create this last week but the struggle to figure out what to do in 2026 took over (still not sure tbh). 2025 was interesting but not productive at all. I’m so thankful for the small businesses and families who trusted me to capture their year. If all you did was survive in 2025, you’re not alone and that is ok. Here’s to 2026!
Was 2025 successful for you?
