    Cozy vegetable Curry

    November 28, 2025June 1, 2026

For someone who doesn’t watch a lot of TV or movies, I seem to have a lot of stories that center around “I saw this in an anime.” Curry is no different. Several years ago when I apparently spent a lot of time binging anime, I fell in love with the idea of curry. I…

    Fall TBR

    October 5, 2025June 1, 2026

I am a sucker for reading books that thoroughly transport me to their world. I also find myself doing everything possible to live in books when I read them. I adore flagging pages that describe foods I can cook later or finding books based on places I am going to visit. Before my trip to…

    Fluffy Cinnamon Rolls

    May 15, 2025June 1, 2026

Through the chaos of finding trains and wandering city streets with names we can’t read, we wander through Minato, Japan. I have never visited a “real” city before. Sure, I’ve been to Orlando but I have been told by pretty much everyone that that is not a “real” city. Standing in Minato, I get it….

Making little planner/junk journal kits to trade/g Making little planner/junk journal kits to trade/gift while walking around @floridastationeryfest this Saturday. As an introvert, I am making 20 of these and my goal is to be brave enough to give out 5 which will be an increase from the 2 I gave out at Romantically Yours last year 😂

The Vanishing Cherry Blossom Bookshop 3.5 ⭐️ | 0🌶 The Vanishing Cherry Blossom Bookshop
3.5 ⭐️ | 0🌶️
First off, cover is obviously stunning. The pinks and cherry blossoms are WHY I picked it up. I had seen it on a few people’s socials and the synopsis got me. A bookshop that shows up in cherry blossom season and people who need it are transported there.

This books, for me, was just meh. In saying that, I feel like if I was in a place in my life where I *needed* a story like this, it would be incredibly comforting. Right now, though depression is probably setting in because I can’t do anything and surgery looms over my head, this isn’t a story I needed in my life.

It’s broken up into 4 different stories but you don’t get to learn a whole lot about each character. You know their current struggle, the bookshop gives them what they need, then there is a short page where they return to life. I wish the stories were more developed.

Also, none of the characters actually gets coffee despite it being a coffee and bookshop and every single person has a napkin placed in front of them. No coffee. Ever. It bothers me.

The Four Winds 4.25 ⭐️ / 0 🌶️ More books based The Four Winds
4.25 ⭐️ / 0 🌶️
More books based on real life events. This one I received from @whiterosebooksandmore in one of their mystery boxes last Christmas and I finally got around to reading it. It is not a book I would’ve picked shop on my own but I ended up really liking it.

Elsa’s life starts off in higher society but she is often left out of family events due to being ill as a child. A night of sneaking out with a boy changes her life trajectory when she ends up pregnant out of marriage and her parents disown her.

She finds herself in a family that loves her in their own ways more than her family ever did. When dust storms threaten her son’s life, she has to make the difficult decision to move west to protect him. This catapults her little family into even harder times that help them grow as people and grow together as a family.

I loved the characters and the way Kristin helps them grow as individuals and as a family is relatable as mom watching her own child grow. Definitely recommend if you like historic fiction.

⭐️ - 3.5 🌶️ - 0
I have found I have a deep interest in books based loosely around true events, especially historic events. I added this book to my TBR about a year ago and was gifted the book earlier this year. It centers around a young lady and her efforts to save people during The Holocaust while being a Jew herself.

Overall, the story is captivating. It gently weaves tidbits of present day Orlando into her memories of the past. From page one I was invested in her story. The ending is what brought it down to a 3.5 for me. While I love the HEA, I found myself wanting to know more about what happened to the book of lost names after she was reunited with it.

2026 is not panning out the way I expected at all 2026 is not panning out the way I expected at all and after two months I’ve decided to pivot my goals for my health. Instead of focusing on chasing big goals, I am going to focus on the slowing down. Little rituals, tiny day trips, savoring kitty cuddles, getting lost in books, and noticing the small details again.

I used to lay on the floor in spring and watch the dust motes dance like glitter in sun beams and this weekend I happened to catch the light just right to notice them again. It made me pause and think of how hurried I’ve been. Trying to catch up in my career that I just started in my mid-30s, trying to run a side business running on fumes, and trying to help everyone else with their lives while neglecting the little things that bring me joy.

So, here’s to a pivot. I might post weekly or monthly. It might be adventures or kitties. Who knows.

2025 in review. I kept meaning to create this last 2025 in review. I kept meaning to create this last week but the struggle to figure out what to do in 2026 took over (still not sure tbh). 2025 was interesting but not productive at all. I’m so thankful for the small businesses and families who trusted me to capture their year. If all you did was survive in 2025, you’re not alone and that is ok. Here’s to 2026!
Was 2025 successful for you?

Putting the final touches on my once a year magazi Putting the final touches on my once a year magazine and I’m thinking about the things I want to accomplish in 2026. I think I want to create a community recipe book next year. Something that features a little something from all the small businesses I love, the people who make our community vibrant. I want it to be more than a book of ingredients but something that tells the story of the people I admire and who make this place what it is.
Am I crazy? Possibly. Will I complete it? Maybe. Would it take a village of people to make it a reality? Absolutely.
@mickfarms Hometown Harvest was the perfect way to @mickfarms Hometown Harvest was the perfect way to kick off fall today! The weather was a little gloomy and cool which is my absolute favorite. There were vendors to shop from, food trucks, pumpkin patch (a real one with pumpkins on the vine), sunflower field, and of course all the goodies Mick Farms normally offers.
Hometown Harvest is open today until 5 and tomorrow 11-5.

I haven’t read many of her books but @lauriegilmore_author feels like the queen of seasonal reads. Add The Cinnamon Bun Book Store and The Pumpkin Spice Cafe to your list from her.

And lastly, @sydneymadisonbooks has Astor Hill you can add. I haven’t read this one yet as I have been waiting for cooler weather but I met her at a book convention and her book sounds amazing!
